We are a small community whose historical roots run deep. As early as 1893, German and Czech immigrants held home meetings in the fledgling community of Rowena, Texas. To say these early pioneers were a hardy bunch would be an understatement. Life was hard in West Texas during those days, but families were strong in faith and endurance. So they met and their numbers increased until in 1907 the Zoar German Evangelical Church was chartered.
Today we carry the faith of our forefathers with a new God-given faith and fervor. Our worship is a blend of traditional with many hymns older folks would be familiar with, and of the more contemporary with hymns of praise. We believe strongly in the sacrament of communion as a family of God and as such we celebrate the Eucharist weekly. We baptize infants as-well-as adults as it was practiced in the church of the first century where entire households were baptized in both water and spirit.
We thank you for sharing these moments of celebration with us. We ask for your continued prayers as we continue on in our worship and praise of our living God.
To God be the glory for the great things He has done!
